This Privacy Policy explains what information the GuideHour Fish mobile app ("the App," "we," "us") collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. This policy replaces any privacy policy previously published for earlier versions of the App under a different name. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
We collect only the data needed to operate the App's fishing features, manage your account, and process subscriptions.
| Data | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| Name | Provided through sign-in (Google, Apple, or email) to identify your account. |
| Email address | Account creation, sign-in, and account-related communication. |
| User ID | A unique account identifier used to authenticate your requests and link your data. |
| Approximate location | Used while the App is in use to provide condition scores, nearby lakes, and species advice relevant to your area. Optional — you can enter a ZIP code instead or decline the location permission. |
| Fishing preferences | The species you follow, saved lakes, and display settings, so the App opens on the water and fish you actually care about. |
| Trip logs | Trips you choose to record in the Logbook — date, water, hours fished and what you caught — used to show your season summary and to give the Guide your own results as context. |
| Purchase history | Subscription tier and status, used to grant access to paid AI features. |
| Device identifiers | Used by our service providers for authentication, subscription management, and security. |
We do not use your data for advertising or sell your personal information.
We share data only with the service providers required to run the App. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Authentication | Sign-in and account management | Name, email, user ID, device identifiers |
| RevenueCat | Subscription purchase and entitlement management | Purchase history, device identifiers |
| Microsoft Azure | App hosting and the Guide (Azure OpenAI) | Account identifier, and the location, species and trip context included in Guide requests |
Conditions data comes from the National Weather Service, water temperature from USGS gauges, and lake and species records from state DNR surveys. These are public data sources the App reads from — we do not send your personal information to them.
All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Access to stored data is restricted to authorized systems and managed identities.
We retain your account and associated data while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App — tap the account icon, then Delete account. Deletion is immediate, and we remove your account data from Firebase Authentication and our database, with residual backup copies purged within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Full instructions, including what to do if you can no longer sign in, are on our Account Deletion page.
The App's content is rated Everyone and is suitable for users of all ages — there is nothing in the App inappropriate for any audience. While anyone can enjoy the App, account creation, the optional location features, and subscriptions are intended to be set up and managed by an adult.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at ben@blombergappdesign.com and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
