Frequently Asked Questions

What does the app do?

GuideHour scores fishing conditions from 0–100 for the species you're after, hour by hour — weather, water temperature, barometric pressure and how that fish behaves all go into the number. It also lists the lakes near you with the species in them, plans the best window on each of the next seven days, keeps a logbook of your trips, and wraps all of it in a conversational Guide you can ask what to throw and where to fish it.

Where do I download it?

GuideHour Fish is available now on both stores — on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and on Google Play for Android.

How do I sign in?

You can create an account and sign in with Apple, Google, or your email address. If you're having trouble signing in, make sure you're using the same method you originally signed up with, then email us if it still won't connect.

Why does the app ask for my location?

Location is used while the app is in use to give you conditions scores, nearby lakes, and species advice relevant to your area. It's optional — you can enter a ZIP code instead, or decline the permission and still use the app. You can change this anytime in your device's location settings (Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services on iOS, or Settings › Apps › GuideHour › Permissions on Android).

Where does the data come from?

Conditions come from the National Weather Service, water temperature from USGS gauges where a gauge exists (and a seasonal estimate where one doesn't), and lake and species records from state DNR surveys. Lake coverage currently spans Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

How do subscriptions and billing work?

Some AI features are available through a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed through your App Store or Google Play account.

On iPhone or iPad:

On Android:

Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the current billing period. Refund requests are handled by the store you bought through — Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, Google at Google Play.

I paid but don't see my subscription.

Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account used for the purchase, then use Restore purchases in the account sheet. If it still doesn't appear, email us with the date of purchase and we'll sort it out.

How do I delete my account and data?

You can do it yourself in the app in under a minute: tap the account icon in the top right, scroll to the bottom of the account drawer, tap Delete account, then confirm with Yes, delete. It's permanent and takes effect immediately. If you can't sign in, see our Account Deletion page for how to request it by email.

Note that deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription — cancel that separately in the App Store or Google Play first.

Is my data private?

We collect only what's needed to run the app and we don't sell your personal information or use it for advertising. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
